Michael Aisenberg, JD is a Principal in the Defense & Homeland Security practice of MITRE Corporation’s Defense and Intelligence FFRDC. He provides strategic policy advice to federal defense and intelligence agencies managing the security of the nation’s most sensitive networks and databases. Mr. Aisenberg currently serves as the Chairman of the American Bar Association’s Information Security Committee. Previously he was Chair of the Information Technology Sector Coordinating Council (IT SCC) and Chairman of the ITAA’s Information Security Committee.

Prior to joining MITRE, Mr. Aisenberg was Special Assistant to the President of EWA Information and Infrastructure Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Electronic Warfare Associates, a national security contractor. From 2000 to 2007, he served as Corporate Director of Government Relations for VeriSign, Inc., managing the company’s national security, intellectual property and trade policy portfolios, as well as leading the corporate standards policy function. Mr. Aisenberg was VeriSign’s principal public policy liaison with the Administration and Federal agencies and supported the VeriSign CEO’s participation in the prestigious President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC), serving on the NSTAC Industry Executive Subcommittee and chairing its International Task Force. From 1981 to 1998, Mr. Aisenberg was Director of Strategy and Policy for Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). From 1976 to 1981, he was an attorney advisor at the Federal Communication Commission, serving in the Land Mobile Division of the Common Carrier Bureau, the Fairness and Political Broadcasting Branch of the Broadcast Bureau, and finally as Legislative Counsel in the Commission’s Office of the General Counsel.

He holds an appointment as a Professor at the University of Fairfax, and has taught Telecommunications law at the University of Maryland. Mr. Aisenberg holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a JD from the University of Maine School of Law. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and before a number of Federal Courts, and is a member of the bar of the United States Supreme Court.
