Safety rules for Stevens Cricket Club:

 

1. General

 

  • All players must wear appropriate clothing. Jeans, dress shirts and dress pants will be considered inappropriate

 

  • Before any practice, players must perform a proper warm up, the warm up routine will be decided and enforced by the person in charge (social chair/President/Vice-president).

 

  • Social Chair would be responsible for having a first aid kit available at all the sessions.

 

  • All players must abide by all the rules or disciplinary action shall be undertaken by the person in charge.

 

  • Each participant would be responsible for his/her injuries that may occur during any activity of the club.

 

  • Prior to engaging in an activity the participant must understand the possible risks involved in participating in any of the club’s activities.

 

  • All participants must be covered by a certain health insurance.

 

  • It would be the responsibility of all the participants to know all the rules of conduct and safety, publicly available on the Stevens Cricket Club website http://attila.stevens-tech.edu/cricket .

 


2. Batting

  • When batting, players must wear the correct protective equipment at all times. The minimum protective equipment must consist of arm pad, hand gloves, leg guards  and protective helmet. No club member shall bat without wearing all of protection mentioned.

 

  • Safety equipment, such as a abdominal guard, chest pad, thigh guard e.t.c.  shall be worn at the discretion of the batsman. (Abdominal Guards can be bought for $5 from the social chair).

 

  • No jewelry or watches shall be worn and pockets must be emptied of potentially dangerous items such as keys, lighters, coins, matches etc.

 

3. Preparing to bat

  • When preparing to bat, a player must stand at an angle whereby it is not possible to be struck by a reflected ball.

 

  • During a transition between batsmen, the new batsman must wait for the other batsman to get off the pitch

 

4. Bowling

 

  • Only one bowler shall bowl at any one time.

 

  • Those who are waiting to bowl must at all times watch the ball in order to avoid being struck unawares.

 

  • Once the bowler has completed his delivery, he must be safely clear before the next ball is bowled. He/she must not turn his/her back on the net whilst rejoining the bowling queue.

 

  • Deliberately bowling recklessly will result in disciplinary action (see ‘CONDUCT’)

 

  • If a bowler, under fatigue, consistently bowls dangerously, he/she must be taken off the bowling queue by the person in charge.  

  • Leather balls/tennis balls shall be used when playing in DeBaun Field. For ATC, only tennis balls shall be used.



 

 

 

Required Forms:

 

  • All members must fill out the membership form before they can play.

 

  • All recognized non-members (graduate students) need to fill out non-members information forms before they can play.

 

 

  • List of all the members and non-members shall be posted on the website, and only those people would be allowed to play.

 

  • If a member or a recognized non-member intends on bringing another person with him/her, he/she would need to inform the e-board 24 hours before the event.

 

  • All the visitors would be required to fill out a visitors form before they can play.

 

 

EQUIPMENT

 

  • All players must handle the equipment with care.
  • Any inappropriate or reckless handling of the equipment observed by the e-board would result in a $20 fine.
  • At the beginning and at the end of a session the person in charge would be responsible for ensuring all the equipment is accounted for. 
     

CONDUCT

 

  • All club members are representative of the Stevens Cricket Club both on and off the playing field, and must ensure that they behave in a manner which will not in any way damage the reputation of the club/Stevens. All laws and etiquette of the game must be respected at all times.

 

  • All members must abide by the rules and spirit of cricket. The decision of the umpire must always be final and self-control must be exercised upon disagreement.

 

  • Opponents and team-mates must be treated with respect both on and off the field.

 

  • The club e-board must recognize their role in setting standards for other members to follow. No e-board may abuse his position in a way which would be detrimental to any fellow member, to the club or to the University.

 

  • In case of an argument/disputes all members and non-members must listen to the e-board members available at the event, failure to do so would result in a $20 fine.

 

  • It is the responsibility of members and non-members to know all the regulations of the game provided by the club, any failure to do so would result in a $20 fine.

 

  • Any complains about any of the e-board members must be delegated to the rest of the e-board.

 

·         Any member who persistently causes disruption within the club will be subject to a formal warning from the e-board which could result in expulsion from the club.

 

 

  • In case of emergency social chair would be responsible for conducting the emergency procedure indicated in the Emergency Procedure

 

Risks Involved:

 

  • The activities with leather ball involve risks of having serious injuries.

 

  • Each participant must understand the risks involved, and he/she would be held responsible for any of his/her injuries.

 

 

Emergency Action Procedure:

 

  • First-Aid should be conducted.

 

  • Campus Police should be informed by calling (201) 216-5000

 

  • President/VP should be informed.

 

  • At least one person should accompany the injured.

 

  • The emergency contacts indicated in the membership forms should be informed about the injury.

 

  • Incase of serious injuries Dean Nilsen should be contacted
