Stevens Institute of Technology has recently been selected as a hosting institution for the inaugural class of Innovation Fellows (CIFellows) by the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) and the Computing Research Association.

Dr. Antonio Nicolosi of the Department of Computer Science will be mentoring the Computer innovation Fellow Dr. Carleton J. Bosley who received his PhD from New York University and joined Stevens as a post-doctoral researcher on October 1, 2009. “Stevens is proud to serve as one of the host institutions in the inaugural year of the CIFellows program. This award is a reflection of the extraordinary talent of Dr. Bosley, and the very high esteem in which Stevens Professor Nicolosi is held by his colleagues in the computing community. As a part of the institutes’ Secure Systems research thrust, Dr. Bosley will be assisting Dr. Nicolosi in the investigation of techniques from lattice-based cryptography and computational learning theory to construct weak pseudo-random functions suitable for RFID authentication. This work has the potential to yield practical RFID authentication schemes that are quantifiably hard to break.

The CIFellows program is funded by the National Science Foundation as part of a $15 million grant, and gives 60 new PhD graduates the opportunity to obtain one-to-two year postdoctoral positions at host organizations including universities, industrial research laboratories, and other organizations that advance the field of computing and its positive impact on society. Stevens is one of just 43 colleges chosen for the program, and is extremely honored to be involved in this process which seeks to retain new PhDs in research and teaching to support intellectual renewal and diversity in the computing fields at U.S. organizations.

Selection into the CIFellows programs indicates a coordinated effort to expand and retain outstanding PhD research talent, continue unique research objectives, and serves as a testament to the growing research recognition of Stevens Institute of Technology.
