12:30 - 4:00 PM (Lunch 11:30-12:30)

The next HSATM Roundtable meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at ARDEC, Picatinny Arsenal, from 12:30-4:00 PM.  A networking luncheon will be served 11:30-12:30.  The subject of this meeting will be:

Working in the Virtual Environment: Practical Experiences

At the February 11th Roundtable meeting, Don Gulliksen of JTSi and Professors Pat Holahan and Ann Mooney facilitated a highly participatory session on Managing the Complexities of the Virtual Work Environment:   Use of Social Networking and Communication Technologies.  We learned about ways of working virtually and about the many potential obstacles to working effectively in the virtual environment.  Yet, working virtually will become more and more prevalent in the future.  We have the tools; now we must learn to use them in a way that optimizes the ability of remote and diverse teams to work together.  Many of the participants provided feedback that they would like to learn more from people's actual experiences in working virtually.
We are fortunate to have many able facilitators with such experience for the April Roundtable meeting.  Prof. Pat Holahan will begin with a brief review of what we discussed in February, followed by, at least, Bobbi Bailey of AT&T, Wayne Robertson of Infineum, Katherine Bakeev of Camo Software, and Don Gulliksen of JTSI, who will share their personal experiences in such environments, especially highlighting successful practices.  I say at least because I hope that all participants will come prepared to share their experiences and to share what actions worked to make the effort effective (or not, as the case may be).
Dress code is business casual.  Because of security requirements at ARDEC it is essential that attendees pre-register.  Please contact Sharen Glennon ( [email protected] or 201-216-5381).  Directions to Picatinny Arsenal are at http://www.pica.army.mil/PicatinnyPublic/about/visitors_guide/directions.asp
