Trish Gorman

Dr. Gorman, a former director of strategy learning at McKinsey & Co., has served as faculty at the Columbia Business School, directed the Wharton Global Consulting Practicum and led the Jack Welch Management Institute. She also has consulted extensively and served as Director of Growth Thought Leadership at Deloitte. She is the author of “What I Didn’t Learn in Business School” with Jay Barney and has been a regular contributor to Forbes.com. Her background in strategy focuses on what works and what doesn’t, and how those lessons can create an impact. 

Lawrence Gastwirt

Dr. Gastwirt came to Stevens after a 30-year career with Exxon Chemical Co. (now ExxonMobil), and has been leading the Alliance since 1992. As an executive in the chemical industry, he managed multinational technology organizations, as well as technology-intensive business operations of global scope. His areas of expertise include new product and new business development, product and project management, strategic planning, industrial R&D management, strategic alliances, and intellectual property licensing and protection. Upon his retirement from Exxon Chemical in 1992, Dr. Gastwirt became an affiliate professor of management and engineering management at Stevens and director of the Alliance. He also served for 12 years on the Board of the Stevens Technology Ventures Incubator, helping guide early-stage technology companies. He is co-author of the book “Turning Research and Development into Profits: A Systematic Approach” and holds a B.Ch.E. degree from City College of New York, M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Princeton University in Chemical Engineering, and an MBA from NYU in Finance and Economics.

Lemuel Tarshis

Dr. Tarshis has had an industrial career of more than 25 years in management, product development, project management, strategic planning and R&D management in the communications, electronics, consumer products, materials and related industries. He has worked at General Electric, Timex Corp., Times Fiber Communications and General Instrument Corp. He became a research professor at the Howe School in 1991, and has been with the Alliance since its inception. He has a consulting practice in innovation, product development, strategic planning, organization and technology application. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, a Ph.D. in physics from Stanford University, and MBA (equivalent) management courses from General Electric Executive Institute, Stanford University and the Wharton School.

Steven A. Jacobs

Steve Jacobs, a senior business manager, consultant, leader and communicator, is president of Global BioPharm Solutions LLC. He has been heavily involved in innovation, global cultural dynamics, high-performing teams, and clinical supply chain operations in the life sciences. He has presented globally on creativity, leading global teams, emotional intelligence, clinical supplies logistics, project planning and contract negotiations. He was a logistics and aviation officer in the U.S. Army, where he rose to the rank of major. His undergraduate degree is in pharmacy from the University of the Sciences, in Philadelphia, and his MBA is from the University of Phoenix with a specialization in global management.
