Retaining and Motivating Key Technical Personnel

For technical personnel and their managers, these are changing and difficult times. In today’s "do more with less" environment, technical employees (among others) are often strained to the limit to get their jobs done, especially with increasing pressure to reduce overhead expense and to work effectively in a "virtual" world. How are companies responding in order to retain their key technical personnel and technical managers, and how are they motivating these people to be continuously productive and innovative?

The Fifteenth Annual SATM Conference will provide participants with fresh insights into how organizations are coping with these issues. The Conference will update you with the latest in strategies and tactics to help ensure an ongoing and strong technology department. We are pleased to have four distinguished speakers who will present their experiences and views and participate with the audience in detailed discussion. Richard Reilly, Professor in the Howe School of Technology Management, Stevens Institute, will be keynote speaker, summarizing the "state-of-the-art" in Motivation, Satisfaction and Retention of Technical People. Joan McMannus-Massey, Director of Human Resources at AT&T Laboratories, will discuss Talent Management in a Technical Environment. Anne Langbein, Director of Human Resources, IBM Watson Laboratories, will give her perspective on Retaining and Motivating Technical Talent. To close, David Lenzner, former Vice President of Human Resources at Xerox and General Instrument Corporations, will present Some Concepts and Solutions on Turnover.

Attendees will come away better prepared to deal with the hiring, motivation and retention of key technical personnel and their managers. This Conference is intended for anyone involved with these issues, including technical managers, senior business managers, human resource managers and those who interface with technology: project managers, marketing managers, product managers, etc.
