Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Finance

The Bachelor of Science degree in Quantitative Finance at Stevens Institute of Technology offers a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, finance and economics to prepare students for careers in financial risk management and analysis, structured finance, financial modeling, financial strategy, financial engineering and graduate study. The program provides Quantitative Finance majors with the foundation and tools for a variety of financial situations and problem solving. Building on the current curriculum and faculty of our highly successful Business & Technology program, the Quantitative Finance program shares many course offerings with the B&T program including a foundation in the basics of business, including accounting, marketing, and corporate finance.  This sister program also focuses on the marriage of business skills with a solid knowledge of modern science and technology, reflecting the sophisticated nature of today’s global business environment. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with the QF Program Director in their freshman year to plan the course of study. Students must begin their mathematics courses in their freshman year in order to progress through the major in a timely manner.

The Business Core

At the core of the program, students will study business fundamentals, including economics, finance, calculus, probability and statistics, accounting, marketing, research, corporate finance, management, business law, ethics, and entrepreneurship. In every instance of learning, students will examine case studies, hear from guest lecturers, and participate in laboratory settings to demonstrate and develop the critical thinking skills needed to solve complex business problems. Students will graduate with the comprehensive problem-solving skills so desperately sought after by businesses that want to succeed in today’s competitive and technology-oriented environment.

A unique feature of a Stevens education is our educational philosophy in which students team up with faculty and businesses to bring new ideas and new technologies to the marketplace. Immersed in this environment, you will learn what it takes to transfer an idea from the conceptual stage and apply it to helping solve the world's greatest challenges. This hands-on experience is unique to Stevens, and is one of the primary reasons Stevens was named in the top 20 “Most Entrepreneurial Campuses” in the nation by The Princeton Review and Forbes.
