AnnouncementsNovember 14thA word from our Vice PresidentHello everybody!!!On November 22nd, the Stevens Anime Club will be taking a trip to Rutgers New Brunswick to attend the Rutgers Anime and Japanese Environmental Society's Mokucon! Mokucon is a two day FREE convention featuring guests such as the Gothic Lolita Girls and Ball Jointed Doll Group, hands on free workshops such as Weapon Making and Comic Making, screenings of Funimation anime Ouran High School Host Club, Basilisk, and Claymore, a live auction, cosplay chess, and a possible concert by our friends Peelander-Z! We will meet at the Howe Center around 9:30am and leave for the Hoboken Terminal by 9:45am. We will take the PATH train to Newark Penn Station, and a NJ Transit train from there to the New Brunswick station. A round trip on the path costs $3.50 and a round trip on the NJ Transit costs $12.25. If you would like to attend, please let me know and give me or any of the e-board members money for the train fare (we will be buying tickets in advance... if you want to get your own path train tickets that's fine, but we want to make sure we have all of the NJ transit tickets so we do not see the train pull away as we are fighting with the ticket machines buying tickets) by Tuesday, November 18th by the latest! Also, CPAC will be having a table in the dealers' room on that Saturday and we need a few more volunteers to help table! If you want to help, please let me know asap! Volunteers will still have lots of time to enjoy the convention, so don't worry about missing out on the fun! Thank you all very much!~ Morgan DeSena mdesena@stevens.edu March 28thNew E-Board ElectedIt was that time of year again. Elections took place, more or less. And we have a new executive board. Remember, as per our new constitution, the old e-board can stay in power in a transitional state up until the end of the semester. So, here's the new victims: President: (Still) Keith B. Cassidy Vice-President: Morgan "Mini-Moose" De Sena Treasurer: Keenan S---ian Secretary: Nick Barisi In addition, we also have the appointing of a new webmistress, Henry Lajolie. So, get buddy-buddy with those guys if there's something you want from club. March 13thNew Constitution PassedCongratulations to... us! The SGA has approved our new and improved constitution. This new constitution is much better than the old one, clearing up many of the vague areas and better defining roles of the executive board. You can view the new constitution on the Constitution page on the left. Nominations And ElectionsDue to the some new SGA regulations, we have to have a normal nomination period, as opposed to doing nominations and elections all in one night. So, we will be accepting nominations in person at our next meeting and by e-mail until 8pm on Friday, March 14th. Any undergraduate in good standing with a passing GPA can be nominated for any or all positions, but one person can only hold one position. The positions are president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. All positions except president are being vacated this year and must be filled. Elections will take place on March 28th, the first week of Haruhi, by secret ballot. Details can be found in the constitution. September 21stNew ConstitutionOur current Anime Club constitution is outdated, vague, and overall not in line with our growing outlook on the future of club. Therefore, we have taken it upon ourselves to rewrite it, nearly from scratch, to better serve the Anime Club. Next week, the 28th, we will be voting on the new constitution. Please read over it below, and show up to vote next Friday at 9pm. I've also provided the bylaws for your perusal, though we are only voting on the main constitution. New ConstitutionBylaws August 20thNew Website LiveWelcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the Anime Club Website version 3.0. I've worked long and hard on this one, and I like the way it's come out. Those of you familiar with the 2.0 site might not notice the differences, and you're right. The site does not look that much different. However, underneath, we now have PHP and SQL 5.0 powering some sections of the site. For instance, if you go to any old news section, you'll see that you can read and write reviews for your favorite show. We'll read those and base our decisions for future picks on what you, the viewer, liked or didn't like. Got a request? Surf on over to you request section and you'll see that you can submit your requests right online, and even vote on requests that others have made. Feel free to poke around as long as you like. If you have any questions or concerns, e-mail me at jhabel@cs.stevens.edu. Thanks, from your friendly local webmaster. March 4th, 2007Election ResultsThe votes are in, tallied, diregarded, and we have selected a new executive board by means of tarot cards and horoscope reading. Here are the results: President: Keith B. CassidyVice President: Joshua Habel Treasurer: Allison Mucha Secretary: R. Miguel Melendez February 22nd, 2007Upcoming ElectionsIt's that time of year again, anime fans. The second week of Abenobashi (that's March 2nd) we will be having unified elections for a new (or slightly used) executive board. Any attending undergraduate member in good standing in elidgible to run or vote. The procedure is as follows: A person must be nominated then seconded for a position, and a person may do either (but not both) for themself. After all nominations are in, nominees are given 5 minutes to present a speech of any kind to the assembled members. Members then vote by secret ballot, and the person for has the most votes for a position wins. Good luck, runners. We now have a date for boken, and have redone the schedule for the last few weeks of the semester. The move has afforded us an extra two week block, during which we will be showing the runner up from Prolegomenon: Gunparade March. We will be moving most of the movie night movies to the Boken marathon. Also, budgeting is coming up for the summer and next fall. Typically we show things out of members' personal collections for the summer, and we can get away with a lot more. So, if you have something you'd like us to show, let us know. In addition, any requests for fall shows or Boken should be sent to anime@stevens.edu, the sooner the better. September 18th, 2006Logo ContestWe haven't actually been sued for it yet, but the Stevens Anime Club would like a new, unique logo to go with our other great expansions. So, we turn once again to our members and appeal to you to show us your artistic skills and design a new logo for our club. Here are the guidelines:
If you are looking for a way to type Japanese characters, JWPce is a freeware program that is easy to use. It can be obtained at this site: http://www.physics.ucla.edu/~grosenth/japanese.html. The winning submission will be selected by a majority vote of the e-board, and to the winner will go the following prizes:
February 21st, 2006Elections March 3rdIn a surprising show of solidarity, Anime club will be having its own elections in time to correspond to the rest of the RSOs, like we're supposed to. In previous years, we had waited until the Boken marathon in order to vote in a new E-baord. So, on March 3rd, the third week of Ryvius, we will be holding E-board elections. You must be a member in good standing, and a Stevens undergrad in order to vote. The procedure and what not are written in the constitution, and will be reviewed before elections. The actual elections will take place before the anime, starting at 9pm. |
