Think your child is the next C.C. Sabathia or Mike Pelfrey? This Alumni Day, Saturday, June 4, is your chance to find out as a new booth aimed at testing your fast pitch comes to Stevens.

Sure to be a crowd-pleaser is the new Speed Pitch booth, guaranteed to end the arguing over who is bringing the heat across the plate.

In the Speed Pitch booth, you take aim at a catcher’s mitt backdrop and wind up. A radar gun will clock your throw in miles per hour and display it on an LED display. The kids can keep track and see who has the fastest pitch.

While the Speed Pitch is new this year, familiar crowd-pleasers will be returning such as the Rocky Mountain Wall Climb, a 20-foot high climbing wall; Alien Lazer Tag, which is played inside an inflatable spaceship; The Lizard Guys, who bring all sorts of critters to campus, and, of course, The Lollipop Run, which guarantees that everyone is a winner with a namesake sweet treat and medal. Last year, more than 60 kids were pre-registered for the Lollipop Run, the largest turnout in a decade. June 4 will also feature a balloon artist and a caricaturist who will set up shop on Palmer Lawn to showcase their artistic creations for you to take home.

And what Alumni Day would be complete without the Build Your Own Sundae station, a sure-fire hit with the little ones (and big ones, too!). Starting with a scoop of ice cream, you select the toppings of your choice, from whipped cream to sprinkles to chocolate sauce, and more. And don’t forget the cherry on top! The combinations are endless.

Kids of all ages will love to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons as parade volunteers perform a training session on De Baun Field that Saturday morning. Need a break? Then sit back and enjoy the view on Palmer Lawn, the perfect spot to picnic with take-out food from the Pierce Room, 2nd floor of Howe Center. Remember that kids 12 and under eat free.

The doors to Walker Gym will once again be open for a quick game of hoops or for running laps, and for those looking to cool off, there’s always De Baun Pool for a quick dip or an aquatic workout. Adults must accompany children in the pool.
